Potentially Invasive Plants

The following plants have been listed on the national and/or state (noted on the right) lists for potential invasiveness. You’ll notice that the states are often all in the same region. That’s because a plant might be potentially invasive in one climate, but hard to grow and useful in another. We grow many of the plants noted only as cultivars, many of which are sterile and thus not invasive. The vast majority of exotic plants are not invasive.

One of our first loves is native plants, however, so we are concerned about this problem. We hope you are too. We will stop growing plants that we believe could become a problem, and will note that possibility in the description. You could be part of the answer, as well. If a plant you are interested in is listed as invasive in your state, please don’t buy it, instead consider a non-invasive substitute. Call us and we'll be happy to help you choose one.
